She lived in London, ON, attending Western University before moving to Toronto with her family where she attended University of Toronto, graduating in Chemistry in They raised two daughters, Ann and Tricia, and one son, Michael.
In moves related to further education and work opportunities, Kathryn and Allan lived in several places over the years including Toronto, Scotland, Ohio, and New York State. Kathryn obtained an MSc in Chemistry while in Ohio and initially worked in research. After discovering that she loved to work with students, she taught high school chemistry for 22 years in Pittsford, NY near Rochester where she also served as Science Department head for several years and co-authored an updated Chemistry textbook.
While in Seeleys Bay, they lived through the ice storm, opting to stay at home to keep water pipes from freezing. They said they survived the long hours with no electricity by playing backgammon by candlelight. Later that summer they celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary. Kathryn liked learning new things and among other things, enjoyed quilting, birding, folk art, reading and camping.
She was an avid Blue Jays fan and enjoyed following curling. She was a wonderful mother, always ready to do something interesting with her children and grandchildren. Loving father of Sidney and Cole. Warren was the most romantic and generous husband with a huge personality. Kelly had a dream after their first date that she would marry him. He loved when Cole came into their bed and if Warren woke up before him, he would watch Cole sleep.
He covered his office in images of his Sidney bean because it made him feel good to see her sweet face all day. He will be forever remembered by family and friends for his sense of humour, extreme generosity, larger than life personality, and for being one of the best story tellers there is. She read about, and practised, living a healthy life for which others often sought her counsel. She was appreciated for how intently she listened to people and offered such positive support.
