Our History

The Friendship Recreation Trail forms the southerly link of the Greater Niagara Circle Route, a kilometer multi-use trail system in various stages of completion at the east end of the Niagara Peninsula. The trail is used by walkers, hikers, cyclists and rollerbladers in the summer, and hikers and cross-country skiers in the winter. The Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre, the largest swimming facility in Niagara, is named after the late Eleanor Misener, a local advocate for accessible exercise facilities and founder of the St. Catharines chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The metre Olympic-size pool has hosted numerous meets. The complex also features one artificial turf field, Alumni Field, and two grass fields.

Sailing and sailboat races dominate the bay and members flock to the club during the summer to get in on the action.
