Like many have pointed it, it can get busy on a nice day so go early. There is paid parking right across from the beach but free parking a few blocks back if your willing to walk a bit. With that being said, I only gave it an average score because it is not dog friendly at all. They are only allowed on the walking paths and bylaw is regularly patrolling to remind people.

Really unfortunate bc I am sure people show up with their pets and then have no choice but to leave.

Sylvan Lake to clamp down on beach crowds with increased enforcement

We did find it very busy and parking cost can add up when your travelling with family. But there's other options if you don't mind walking a couple blocks to the beach. Just google 'free public parking Sylvan Lake' and you'll see some other options. I'd suggest leaving to enjoy the beach earlier in the morning, than leaving after a picnic lunch that's when it's crazy busy!

Availability

Drove up here from Calgary. We were visiting from Ontario and were missing our lakes. This town is a smaller version of Wasaga beach. One area were beach is a good size but the rest is very narrow. There is grassy areas to set up.
